Who may submit vids?
Anyone interested in having their vids shown at Eastern Media Con may submit vids; you do not have to be a member of the convention. Vids do not have to be new or premiering vids, but please let us know if they are, so we can make a fuss about them!How many vids may I submit?
Vidders can submit up to three vids. Prioritize your vids so that your first choice is first up, second choice second, etc. in case time runs short. If the vidder has more than three vids s/he would like to submit, we will be happy to accept them with the understanding they will only be shown if time permits. Additional vids should also be prioritized by the vidder's preference.How can I submit my vids?
We can accept vids electronically as MPEG-2 video files with a separate audio file, or as DIVX files uploaded to MegaUpload or YouSendIt, or through snail mail on a playable DVD. Last year we took vids right up to the last minute. I wish we could keep doing that, but the reality is that it's completely impractical. This year we would like to have all vids in hand by Friday, September 19, 2008. This gives us time to deal with problem files and other inevitable technical glitches, get the show properly formatted, take it out for a test drive, and, we hope, have the con show's dvds available for sale at the con itself. Due to compatibility problems with equipment that make vidders, vid show organizers, and audiences crazy, we regret we cannot accept vids at the con. Depending on how my life is going, it may be possible to submit vids after the deadline (but I'm not making any promises). When in doubt, contact Flamingo directly.What genre of vids may I submit? What fandoms?
We are accepting vids in gen (general audience), slash (male/male and female/female erotic relationship), and mature (male/female erotic relationship). We will be showing the vids in two separate segments (gen/mature and slash) with an intermission between. When submitting your vids, please identify whether they are gen, slash, or mature. Please group your gen, slash, and mature vids on your media so that all of one type are together. We accept any media fandom in any genre.What information do you need from me?
We would like to have as much information about your vids as possible. Please send us:Your fannish/vidder name and contact info (include email address and website where your vids are posted if you have one)
The list of submitted vids in the order they appear on the disks/tape (and if you do or do not want your vids included on the con dvd [if yes, you do get a contributor's copy])
The genre of each vid (gen, slash, mature)
The fandom of each vid
The song title and artist
The running time of the vid
We would like to share information about your vids with the conventioneers attending the show. Please let us know if we can include your information in a program booklet we'll be putting together about the vids screened at the con.
Can I sell my vids at the con, even if I’m not there?
Yes! We have an Orphan Merchandise Table that can get your vids into the hands of the fans. Ask about how we can help you sell your vids.I have other questions!
